What began as a shared vision among three friends has flourished into a cornerstone of community—a haven where men meet in conversation, and every visit tells a story.
From construction and design to the tireless “back-office” nights, Alejandro, Alan and Silvija crafted a space where men could feel at ease, open up, and enjoy that unbeatable experience of feeling fresh paired with great friendship.
Looking back over the past twelve months, has proven that vision is real. The three founders reflect on a year defined by authentic community, masterful craft, and the distinctive culture they have championed—the “Mustaċċun Lifestyle.”
We didn’t just set out to open a barbershop, we dreamed of building a safe space for men.

It has cultivated a lifestyle—a safe space dedicated to the complete experience of the modern man. The team has welcomed new faces and loyal regulars alike, building a family founded on trust, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

Can you walk us through the journey from your initial concept to opening the doors in December 2024? What were the biggest challenges and triumphs in making Mustaċċun a reality?
Like many great stories, ours has its fair share of bold characters. It’s a tale of conflicts, redemption and triumphs that have made il-Mustaċċun barber everything that it is. What began as sketches and shared dreams between three friends materialised into a meticulously crafted space. We oversaw every detail—from the construction and bespoke interior design to the selection of premium tools and products. The soft-launch opening wasn’t just a launch; it was the combination of tireless nights and unwavering dedication, welcoming the first clients into the barbershop haven we had promised to build.
2. Cultivating the Mustaċċun Brotherhood: Shaping the modern gentleman
How did you intentionally build the sense of community at Mustaċċun? What does it mean to you when clients become part of the family?
Our core mission was always to be more than a service provider. This year, we successfully fostered a genuine community, a “brotherhood” we call the “Modern Gentleman”, where conversations flow as freely as the coffee and liquor.
We’ve witnessed friendships form between clients in our chairs, hosted regulars who now feel like family, and created a loyal following that values the experience as much as the exceptional service. This organic, trusting community is our most significant achievement.

How would you define the “Mustaċċun Lifestyle” experience? What makes it different from a traditional barbershop visit?
We set out to redefine the barbershop visit for today’s man—a type or ideal, representing a whole class of professional people. We honour and elevate the timeless art of old-school barbering. It’s an old-time legacy crafted by artisans and friendship that we devote our lives to. A tradition of doing things differently, with all the best bits from the past at the heart of our uncompromising experience and character.
This year, we established that the “Mustaċċun Lifestyle” is a holistic experience: Every detail, from the vintage leather chairs to the glistening straight razors, speaks of a dedication to reviving an art that has stood the test of time. The precision of masterful grooming, the therapeutic effect of a hot towel and straight-razor shave, the reflective conversations that serve as “barber therapy,” and most importantly, the self-confident feeling one carries out the door. We’ve become the destination for those seeking not just a haircut or trim, but a transformation in how they look and feel.
